talk about hibernating...

hey everyone, i haven't blogged since the 1st of April!! a whole 5 months, 24 days. wow, can you believe it? talk about hibernating. i'm going to try and blog more often as i really enjoy it, even though it is kind of like speaking to myself. but as much as i hate to admit it, i start something new and then after i while i give up. not necessarily give up…more like "i've found something else to do" and to be perfectly honest, i forgot all about blogging.

anyway, as i'm sat here trying to complete my mile-high stack of homework – literally – i needed a break and decided "hey! i'm going to write a blog". so, to start things off a lot has changed since i last blogged. as most of you know, i got my hair cut short:

and it really was on of the best decisions i made. everybody has asked me, "were you not really worried about getting your hair cut short? what if the hairdresser did it wrong? what if you didn't like it?" i actually got it done in edinburgh at Vidal Sassoon by a guy who has been cutting hair in my family for a long time, so i had a lot of confidence in him, and what if i didn't like it? it's hair, it grows back. this next bit might sound really silly, but it really did give me a whole load of confidence. i totally recommending to anyone else who wants to completely change their hairstyle, that they just go for it!!

the next thing to happen to my was that i recently sat my standard grades.

that was a whole new experience for me, and to be honest, i enjoyed it as it gave me plenty of time to think about things and also concentrate on passing my exams. but thankfully, they are over with for another year – although i have to say, i'm kinda starting to crack under the pressure of fifth year.

enough about school, and moving on to summer! i turned 16 in the summer holidays, YAY, and i spent the day down in my edinburgh with my mum and had such a lovely time! i also went back and forth to findhorn in summer - one of my favourite places!! if you haven't been i seriously recommend you go sometime soon, it's amazing.

and then of course, as always, summer goes by quicker than you think and before you know it you are back at school. i'm currently doing my highers and trying to cope with the mass-amount of homework i'm given every week, whilst trying to juggle a social life.

just wanted to write a quick blog (which actually took longer than i thought, haha!) just for the sake of writing another one, as i was in that kind of mood. like i said, i want to blog more regularly so keep a look out!

bareMinerals® Prime Time Oil Control Foundation Primer

finally the holidays have arrived! well, i say holidays, but for those of you who are as unfortunate as me and have exams to study for, these aren't so much 'holidays' but a kind of 'stay in everyday and study' break. anyway, getting back to the point of this blog…

so i recently got this: bareMinerals® Oil Control Foundation Primer

and what a treat! i'm a strong follower for bareMinerals® and i've stuck with their products for a long time; i have their matte powder foundation, eyeshadow, etc. and i also wear their primer.

from this past christmas onwards i wore the 'normal' primer, the award winning Prime Time Foundation Primer. however, the reason as to why i started wearing a primer was because i had read and heard that a primer is used for your foundation to sit on, so that it doesn't soak into your skin.

so i got the 'normal' one and what a weird texture it was! it was very silky and slightly oily. so as instructed, "apply 1-2 pumps evenly all over face. Once dry, follow with foundation." I highlighted "once dry" because this is where i started noticing problems.

i have quite oily/dry skin, so i noticed that instead of sitting as an extra layer on my face, the primer sank in, meaning my foundation did as well.

so i started getting really curious as to what it could be; i even got ahold of one of the make-up artists at Bobbi Brown (the foundation i wear) to ask what the problem was. they suggested it was because my skin was too dry it was soaking up all of the moisture it could.

but this isn't how i came across this one. i actually owe it to my mum for picking this one up when she spotted it in John Lewis when i had asked her to get me some more – originally meaning to get more of the 'normal' one.

this primer is completely water based and is totally silicon free, yet it also contains Witch Hazel extract, which helps for any problem-prone skin.

it glides on effortlessly plus it leaves my skin feeling refreshed and ready to apply foundation. i can definitely feel it forming a base on my skin much more than the other one. this is why i would 100% recommend this product to anyone who, like me has problem-prone skin, dry or oily skin. don't get me wrong though, the other one is good but it just wasn't the right one for me.

will blog again soon. xoxo

quick intro!

hey everyone! this is my first blog so i promise to make it short and sweet.

to start of, here's me…

(Yes, i am totally aware that this is a cropped photograph but i couldn't find a recent photo of my where i wasn't actually posing for it.)

So to put a face to a name, i'm Penny. Penny Leake and i'm 15 years old. Currently still in school and studying for my standard grades (eek!) I'm petite, only 5" 1.5 inches. I must admit, i am quite a girly girl. I love shoes, make up clothes, handbags, accessories, everything. Whether it be down to sparkles, sequins, pretty pastels, lovely lace, you name it! I spend faar to much of my time on the internet, either on Twitter or browsing on clothing websites (TopshopASOSKurt Geiger and Bobbi Brown to name a few).

i'm a typical teenager; i spend most of my time changing outfits because "my bum looks too big in these jeans" or "this top doesn't sit right" believe me, i've been through them all. And then there's the amount of time i spend fussing over my hair, doing my make up and trying to get rid of my spots!

I'm an enthusiastic person, you'll never see me not smiling or laughing and i just like to have fun. i love my family, friends and my dog. Extremely typical saying "i love my family and friends" and i hate cringe-y sayings but this ones true! also love running, music and red apples…has to be red, i hate green ones.

Not gonna go into so much detail as this was just an introdution blog, letting you all know a bit about me! will blog again soon. xoxo
